Holodata: An Introduction

Holodata is a digital platform I’ve developed to monitor the progression and interactions of popular vtubers, with a particular focus on Hololive’s creators. My personal admiration for Hololive drove me to create this, wanting to discern trends, growth patterns, and collaboration dynamics between the vtubers.

Official Affiliations

To set the record straight, this platform isn’t officially endorsed or affiliated with Hololive or Cover Corp. It’s born out of my passion for Data Science and love for Hololive.

Functional Framework

Language Compatibility

I’ve made efforts to make the website accessible to Japanese audiences. However, as I’m still learning the language, I ask for understanding and patience for any linguistic inaccuracies. I’ll address such discrepancies promptly upon identification.

Data Precision

It’s essential to understand that data integration on Holodata is fully automated. I don’t manually update any data. The primary data source is the Google Youtube API. While ensuring accuracy has been paramount, a 100% precision rate is hard to guarantee.

Side Note: Some users might observe occasional data lapses concerning certain vtuber statistics. These anomalies usually stem from the API itself. Reporting such inconsistencies would be greatly appreciated, and I’ll look into them.

In terms of sourcing game information for the channel, I rely on two primary methods: the YouTube API and manual deduction based on video titles. However, I’ve encountered some challenges along the way. There have been instances where the YouTube API mistakenly detects the wrong game, or content creators themselves have labeled their videos with incorrect game titles (for example, there are multiple variations of “Minecraft”).

To address these issues, I’ve done my best to establish “same as” relationships to link related game titles, but I’ll admit it’s far from perfect.

Additionally, certain metrics, like how often vtubers collaborate, are also based on video titles. This means there might be occasional omissions in collaboration data.

At this moment, I don’t have immediate plans to automatically accept community contributions due to the substantial workload involved. However, if you’re interested in lending a hand and improving the accuracy of the channel’s game information, please feel free to reach out. You can find my contact information in the designated section.

Ethical Stance on Data Transparency and Talent Privacy

Creating Holodata, I was deeply concerned about ensuring the talents’ privacy and dignity. As a staunch supporter of Hololive, I believe in fostering a positive environment without unnecessary comparisons, which can sometimes be harmful.

I considered several ideas to balance fan engagement with the comfort of the talents. The goal is to avoid metrics that might inadvertently rank or compare talents in a way that might breed negativity. While metrics like views and subscribers are available for transparency, the emphasis is more on the interactions and content choices of the vtubers.

I’m always open to feedback. Whether it’s feature suggestions, bug reports, or concerns regarding the data’s portrayal, I value and welcome community input. If there’s any feedback that indicates potential harm or negativity towards the talents, I’ll make necessary adjustments promptly.

Lastly, on a personal note, I highly recommend checking out Hakos Baelz—she’s my favorite vtuber
